Developing a national inventory of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems through remote sensing and machine learning, and strengthening the technical capacity of domestic experts for long-term monitoring. The convolutional neural network (CNN) model for automated solar PV mapping will be the first of its kind in the global south.

Developing a national inventory demonstrating forest change and degradation through remote sensing, and strengthening the technical capacity of domestic experts for long-term monitoring. A bushfire alert tool is under development to support local forestry management.

Developing climate expenditure and budget tagging codes in the System of National Accounts
Conducting a Climate Public Expenditure and Institutional Review (CPEIR) and strengthening technical capacity to develop climate finance tracking tools. Climate coding refers to the practice of tagging and tracking budget items with codes that indicate their relevance to climate change adaptation, greenhouse gas mitigation, damages, and loss.

Strengthening MLCG for Domestic Implementation of the NDC
Supporting all levels of government in The Gambia to integrate climate action in national and subnational governance. In eight regions, domestic experts will conduct technical assessments and participatory identification of climate action priorities. The findings will be integrated into regional climate action plans to support decentralization of mitigation strategies.

Strengthening Net Metering Policies and PV Installation
In support of existing net-metering policy in The Gambia, implementing demonstrative net-metered solar PV systems and establishing a technical curriculum for grid connection will accelerate domestic adoption of renewable energy.
