Bilateral Support to Strengthen National Approaches and Effective Regional Collaboration
The Pacific Alliance is a Latin American trade bloc for regional integration formed by Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. The PA is a strategic, multi-disciplinary, collaborative platform for development; among the multiple sectoral goals of the PA, there is an explicit commitment to the environment and green growth and to address the drivers and challenges of climate change.
In 2018, the Pacific Alliance MRV Programme (AP-MRV) was launched with a mandate to provide technical and policy support to strengthen climate MRV systems for: climate finance, mitigation actions and emission inventories.
The high-level mission of the Programme was to support the collaboration of countries in PA to define regional MRV priorities to address greenhouse gas (GHG) and short-lived climate pollutant (SLCP) emissions and pursue opportunities for harmonizing the MRV systems.
In addition, the programme sought to enable cooperation and facilitate the exchange of best practices with the WA-MRV Programme in an effort to build capacity to implement the Paris Agreement and to explore opportunities for replication of bilateral projects that align with regional MRV Priorities.
The Final Project Performance Report was published in March 2022.
